Dotting of the Dancing Lion Ceremony

Lion Dancing has been part of the Chinese culture for thousands of years and hence it has become the most popular folk dance in China. Lion dance is performed usually as a special ceremony in order to exorcise evil spirits and also to attract good fortune and good luck.

Traditionally, before the ‘lions’ do their performances, the dancing lion must be blessed by an eye opening or eye dotting ceremony. During the Lion-awaking ceremony its eyes, ears, nose, mouth, leg, forehead and the rest of the necessary parts of the lion is dotted by VIP under the guidance of a special trained master.
