丘啓楓祖籍廣東大埔，戰後高小第九屆校友。
國立台灣師範大學畢業，在汶萊華校服務十二年，包括母校校長；也在駐汶萊經濟文化代表處與台北行政院新聞局工作各四年。
曾任亞洲周刊副總編輯，香港聯合報資深編輯，新加坡聯合早報駐香港、北京、台北特派員，香港浸會大學新聞工作坊講師，廣東省汕頭大學長江新聞與傳播學院客座教授，現任汶萊時報 （www.bt.com.bn）集團副總編輯。著有散文集《明月千里》。

Chiew Chee Phoong is Assistant Group Editor-in-Chief of The Brunei Times (www.bt.com.bn).
He began career as a teacher in Pai Yuek School, Bangar, a remote Chinese Primary school in the rainforest of Temburong from January, 1960 to August, 1961. Went to Taiwan and got a B.A. degree from the National Taiwan Normal University in June, 1965.
Returned to Brunei and continued the teaching profession in the Chung Ching Middle School, Seria, Brunei and the Chung Hua Middle School, Kuala Belait, Brunei. Was appointed the Principal of the latter from January, 1975 to July, 1977.
Joined the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, B S Begawan as Trade Assistant in July, 1977 and then went to work as an information officer in the Government Information Office, Taiwan from April, 1981 to April, 1985.
In May, 1985 he joined Lianhe Zaobao, Singapore and was assigned as Hong Kong Correspondent in August, 1990. Two years later was transferred to Beijing as China Correspondent until February, 1994 when was named Taipei Correspondent. Successfully established its first bureaus in Hong Kong, Beijing and Taipei respectively.
In November, 1994, joined the Hong Kong edition of the mass circulated United Daily of Taiwan. After the daily stopped publication at the end of 1995, moved to the TIME magazine style Chinese news weekly YAZHOU ZHOUKAN as Senior Editor in February, 1996 and was promoted to Deputy Editor-in-Chief in 2000. He retired in July, 2003.
In August, 2004, was invited by Li Ka Sheng Education Foundation, Hong Kong, to teach journalism at the Cheung Kong School of Journalism and Communication, Shantou University, Guangdong, China, as a Visiting Professor. Resigned and returned to Brunei in February, 2006. Joined The Brunei Times in April, 2006.C
