This is the third part of my Transpacific Journey.  If you would like to catch up on the first two parts, here are the links:

Memorable Transpacific Journey Part 1

Memorable Transpacific Journey Part 2

My United Airlines flight leaving Seattle to Dayton, Ohio on 8 July was scheduled for ETD at 10:36AM.  United airlines did not announce, until much later, that all of their flights disruptions  because there was an issue with their network connectivity. There was chaos at the UA terminal as passengers queued to try to get on alternative flights! The UA boarding counter where I was waiting in line suddenly just closed down and the staff just walked away without giving any instruction to the waiting passengers in line to be served. When I stopped one of the counter staff leaving and I asked him why, he just pointed me to wait at the next counter where there were more than 20 people in the queue.

Due to the delay of my flight from Seattle which was subsequently cancelled I missed my connecting flight to Chicago.   At every airport, where my flight stopped I have to queue at the United Customer counter to find the next available connecting flight onward. I  have  to do that in at least 3 different airports until I met United flight UA1594 to Washington UA flight Cabin Crew Elizabeth Schilling Morales, Donna Chaffin & Jenny Marshall (Mr. Carlos Encinas- not in the photo) were very kind to use their own phone to make an advanced connection  to Dayton. Later on they were very generous to give me a gift box of fruits, cake, cheese and goodies, a can of juice and a bottle of drinking water as they notice that I have been running around from one airport to another for the last 10 hours.

By then I realised the reasons  my class mate Chow Suet Ping insisted that I bring along some of her specially cooked “Xiao Long Bao”  for my flight to Dayton. Most domestic and budget Airlines operating within the North America Continent   have frequent delays as well flights disruptions !

I wish to make a direct message of appreciations to the United flight UA1594 to Washington UA flight Cabin Crew Elizabeth Schilling Morales, Donna Chaffin & Jenny Marshall (Mr. Carlos Encinas- not in the photo) for your care making this otherwise stressful journey more meaningful in human relationship of kindness. Your friendly touch have smooth out all my difficulties of anxieties facing the  unknown challenges. Thank you very much! I hope the CEO will have a chance to read my message react in upgrading UA flight services for the clients.

Upon arriving at Dayton airport I found my dear friend, Han was waiting for me! Han’s home is in Cincinnati  but the Dayton Airport is near to his home so he suggested that I should fly there instead.  During my flight delays, my dear friend Han had been monitoring the UA flight disruptions and I would keep him updated on my progress. It was way after midnight when he was able to drive in to pick me up. My checked luggage were delayed as well but they were delivered next day afternoon!

Han & Ngo

As planned Han and his beloved wife Chow Suet Ngo, drove me to Dayton to visit her sister Chow Suet Chang & her husband Chung Yun Thai – who was recovering in hospital. Their daughter  Ching Ching was there in the hospital visiting her father.

After lunch we moved on to Cleveland visiting their eldest sister  Snr. Chow Ngen Song and her hubby Snr: Then Chung Seng.

The Great Lakes Science Centre Museum supports a STEM model Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.  It also has a NASA Glenn Visitor Centre – one of the very few centres where you get a feel of how the scientists stay and work in space!  Invoke the scientist in yourself at Science Phenomena and explore electricity, motion, magnetism and sound – these are my favourite subjects in my working life in Radio TV Brunei as well in my most successful business in lightning protection system.

My next followed up destination heading to Florida to join my family reunion on board the cruise ship “Ovation Of the Seas” . All my members of my family traveled from Australia and Brunei. I will post this family cruise in a separate post.
